Mountains! After the rain on Thursday that canceled competition, we woke up Friday to very clear skies for the first time since I've been here. When we drove to the rowing venue we saw a huge mountain range in the background. We had heard about it but had never seen it with our own eyes. The hazy smog around the city broke to show us beautiful scenes.

On a completely separate note, Friday was also laundry day. With the help of two Olympic officials staying at the hotel, I took clothes to a local laundry, instead of the hotel, to be cleaned. Less than half the cost of the hotel service and I got to see another part of this area.

Of course, we met after our day of competition for a nice dinner and then posed in front of the hotel sign for a team photo.

Nice to FINALLY see the mountains....they've always been there, but you just couldn't see them. Very interesting! You keep drinking beer.....do they have wine over there? Reading your blog every morning...great way to start the day! You are very fortunate to have a chance to do this. Bring the little people back something:-)
